Wonderful, informative read.
Such a wonderful, detailed book with first hand accounts by people who were there & lived through these difficult times.
It’s both heartwarming and heartbreaking to hear the stories of children unable to spend Christmas with their own families, but also hearing how a lot of ‘foster’ families treated some of these children as their own.
We often take for granted in this day & age the freedom we have, the food we eat & the availability of everyday items. Reading this makes me feel so much more grateful & appreciative of the lives we now all live, hugely thanks to the people who fought for us to live the life we do.
A brilliant book for anyone interested in the way Great Britain was during World War Two & history in general.
I myself am an avid reader of any literature relating to World War Two, British history & the era of the 1930s-40, so this book ticked every box for me.
