This isn't what I usually go for and I have to take that into account with my review hence the 2 stars instead of 1.
The attention to detail is great in this opening but it isn't grabbing and doesn't add, instead I found it dragged the opening.
The first sentence did nothing for me and from their the structure of the sentence and the way it has been written is a bore and sounds like it's trying too hard to be a dark but energetic text.
I love gore but the deaths and their descriptions weren't gory in the sense that I like it, instead it seemed almost half arsed.
I didn't read past the first 3/4 pages as it dragged too much and hadn't hooked me in any way.
