I don't usually go for books like this. I find the attention to detail that the author goes to is too much for me. I want to read a story, not an historical account of the 18th Century. I find that a lot of the detail gets in the way.
It's like the author has carried out all this research and will use it come what may. having said that, the style is great when the story shines through.
