During the first chapter I was unsure about this book. However once you start to get the background on everything that is happening you start to become invested in it. By the end of the first look I was hooked and am eager to know more!
I find Abel a fascinating character, a prototype mech, with greater skills and intelligence than any other. However during the thirty years he has spent stranded alone in space he has begun to develop emotions and a personality. He acknowledges the mechs should not have hope, but he hopes for someone to come and find him so he can continue what he was created to do.
Also, it has to be said, the cover is one of the most beautiful covers I have ever seen on a book!
