First of all how stunning is this cover?!
Defy the Stars was action packed from the get go. Even though it's sci-fi it's incredibly easy to read and really engaging. Whereas some sci-fi books have a lot of technical jargon that gets confusing, Defy the Stars wasn't like that. It focuses a lot on the main characters and their situations and while it does have some technical terms it isn't difficult to follow.
Noemi and Abel - the main characters are very believable and I loved seeing their character developments throughout the story. The side characters that were introduced were also great and I felt their dynamics worked so well together as a group.
The story wasn't that unique for YA however, but it's still very enjoyable, addictive and even though the ending was bittersweet I can't wait for the second book!
I would definitely recommend this if you want a fast paced, kick-butt, sci-fi series with a great cast of characters that will tug at your heartstrings.
