This book is full of beautiful world building which you discover as Noemi and Abel travel the universe. My favourite part is their growing relationship and how Noemi constantly struggles with the knowledge that Abel, as human as he seems, isn't and probably never will be fully human.
Noemi is fighting for her planet to keep the citizens of earth from over running it as they did their own planet. Their text books are dated and she starts off very stubborn but as she meets Abel and travels with him she starts to see things a little differently.
Abel is a one-of-a-kind mech who has spent 30 years alone on a ship due to unforseen circumstances. He's rescued by Noemi and his program dictates that he must follow her orders, despite her being the enemy.
