Science fiction as a genre is filled with so many hopes and dreams for what the future may one day bring so reading or being exposed to anything in this category gives the audience a glimpse into the creator's own thoughts and wishes. I guess then Claudia Grey really liked Wall-e or just robots. While a little heavy on the religious ideology, the themes of environmental protection is very relevant and is crucial to the human race. The plot did prevent me from fully enjoying Defy the Stars at times since it was very complicated. The romance aspect of this novel was secondary to the plot which is personally important to me since I care more about how the world-building and plot is constructed in a sci-fi book. Overall the book intrigued me quite a lot but it was a hefty one to finish.
