I was immediately drawn into this book by the fantastical descriptions that were so vivid I felt like I was standing side by side with the characters. The attachment that I felt between our main character, Karl, and his seal in such a short excerpt is a true testament to Robbie Arnott's writing. I'd love to continue reading Flame as the contrast of the title against the sea theme so far, really intrigues me.
