It's a bit of an odd start to a book. The whole thing with the dead coming back is just the right amount of weird, with the right amount of intrigue to make you come back to the book. The start of the book proper talks so much in depth about the fishing and the seals but not too much that it isolates you and pushes you out if you know nothing at all.
