This is a difficult book to review as I did not really engage with the writing style. I found it very difficult to read but am glad that I continued with the book. It is whimsical and I loved the magical realism contained within the story. I also enjoyed the fact that it was so sympathetic in the way that it dealt with grief throughout. Its take is original, with characters that I found more and more engaging as the story continues. The beginning throws you straight into the book and it is a very strange beginning.

If you enjoy a story that is heavy on the magical realism that is beautifully written with great and engaging characters I would recommend this to you. For a debut novel, this is brilliant and we can expect great things from this author.
