This book is confusing, but in a good way.

Each chapter in the book is written different from the perspectives of different characters. Some are our protagonists, some are minor characters who have no influence on the plot. We get diary entries, letters, first person perspective and third person perspective. I loved this about this novel. It increased my interest and kept me wanting to read more.

The story itself is strange and beautiful. The plot is kind of hard to explain, due to there being so many smaller stories within it, but it is largely based around a girl who has ran away after her mother's second death. Animals and nature play a huge part in this story, in a magical sort of way.

One thing I found strange was how the dialogue was written. Rather than using speech marks, the author has opted for all dialogue to written in italics. This has lead to the dialogue sounding softer. While this took some time to get used to, I feel this did end up working for this novel, as it really is an action-driven novel.
