Just really couldn't get into this. I know magic realism isn't for everyone but I love it, as well as books rooted in mythology and old lore but this just didn't live up to my expectations.
Found it a real slog to get through to the end, although I did force myself to persevere (out of pure stubbornness and inability to ever leave a book half-read) it was a struggle to muster enough enthusiasm to pick the book up and manage even a few pages at a time.
The cover is gorgeous......the best thing this has going for it in my opinion....beautiful colours and simplicity that should reflect the natural world of the books setting but I'm finding it hard to find any other positives I got out of reading this.
