This is a really tricky book to review. I can definitely say that the writing style is beautiful and poetic. It's full of individual stories which, sometimes unexpectedly, form a real circle of life. A tale of love, family, friendship and undoubted strangeness it's a tricky book to categorise.
Some of the chapters are clear and easy to understand but there are others where you don't really know who (or what) the narrator is until the end.
The landscape is explored in great detail and our place within it is questioned and examined.
If I said it was about a man who hunts with seals, a brother who wants to make his (very much alive sister) a coffin and characters born from fire you may dismiss it out of hand as being a bit too weird.
However, it's worth a look if just for the lyrical style of the writing. I think I would need to re-read it a few times to "get" everything but it does strangely draw the reader in (even when you haven't got a clue what the heck is going on!)
