This book is extremely well written and will appeal to all those people who admired Princess Diane. Inspector Ken Wharfe was her protection office during a very difficult period in the Princess's life. He describes not just the problems faced in ensuring the Princess was always safe but also the effect of her troubled marriage on her emotions. He gives readers a different perspective from most accounts, that of an employee but not of the Royal household therefore ultimately only answerable to his superior officers.
He describes the difficulties of planning trips to various countries and the problems that could arise, very often with reporters, during these trips. He held a very tricky position particularly on the private trips when there was no press officer and he had to deal directly with the press.
