1941 finds Tom Wilde at last able to serve his country in a role that will tets his resolve and ingenuity to the full.

Tomas Esser is an American of German descent who finds himself dragooned into helping the intelligence services to infiltrate an agent into wartime Berlin. For Tom Wilde his desire to serve his country is met when he is transformed into Tomas Esser and sent to Berlin to collect a package. What this package is and who it is from are one of the many unknowns as he starts his time in Berlin. Who he can trust and how he can get back to England are also unknowns and as his situation becomes dire he finds himself on the run in Germany desperately trying to get back to Lydia and his son home in Cambridge.
