Having read the first 3 Tom Wilde books I was looking forward to this one. Now I've read the First impression I have to admit to feeling a little disappointed. Clearly, it is going to be packed full of the derring-do escapades that we expect from Mr Wilde but there seems to be some magical ingredient missing from this one. Usually by the time I'm 20 pages in I am absorbed in the tale but that hadn't happened to me by the end of the excerpt.

The set up seems promising but I'm not sure about transplanting Tom from the hallowed halls of Cambridge to Berlin. It does seem a logical progression for the character but, nevertheless, disappointing for this reader.
