We soon discover the secret, but who else knows? The reader is taken on a tale with numerous characters from Europe and beyond. There are the usual twists and turns, enough to keep interest without getting too complicated keeping track of the different characters.
Quite a lot of 'fight' type scenes and hiding/running away as expected for the genre. Also descriptive of gender roles in the family and workplace, very typical of the time.
Best read in chunks rather than dipping in and out of, as there are quite a few male characters that develop over time, with duplicitous motives and missions to keep track of.
I liked the book as it is a little different to the usual 'spy' WW2 books and wasn't too gory.
