I wasn't sure quite what to expect when I first picked up this book, in fact I thought it wouldn't really be to my taste since I don't usually read historical fiction, especially based around world war two. However, the book surprised me and wasn't how I expected to be. It was full of suspense, and I couldn't help but be sucked into the story and I saw it being told through the eyes of the characters. Once I got to about halfway, I couldn't stop reading even when I knew I had no time to keep reading! The writing style was easy to follow but also very good at keeping you interested. I couldn't have guessed the ending so I was pleased that it wasn't something predictable which is something that has ruined books that started out well for me in the past. Overall, would recommend.
