When this book was described as YA, despite the main character being 14 I thought its maybe have a more mature tone which I don't believe it did. I think this would be better for younger readers. Despite that I did actually enjoy the tone of it, I felt that Ballabon writes from a young perspective really well.
I didn't like the fact that a lot of events seemed to be skipped over. There was a large time skip and I personally thought that just seemed a bit off. I wish that there was a bit more detail of what exactly happened.
I love love love, the cover though. I love the colour scheme and just the general feel of it. I don't think this is for me at all but it's certainly interesting.
