I really liked the cover of this book, and although YA fiction isn't normally my go to I do enjoy then every now and then so was keen to read the sample. That said I have found the opening chapters somewhat disappointing.
This books feels like the author is trying to draw the reader into a deep understanding of the main characters teenage identity and their development, and yet it all felt a little bit too surface to achieve its goal. Everything felt a little bit like it was skimming the topic. I don't know if this description makes sense but it really did not appeal to me.
