The writing feels too hopeful. I think it sends out the wrong message - it’s not always so easy to become more confident and outgoing as a child. I think the book seems to be preaching a lot about the unknown and how as a child or young adult it should feel exciting. But that may make some children reading this feel inadequate if they don’t feel so easily ‘excited about the unknown’. The writing itself flows well but the story lacks intrigue and pure honest accounts of being afraid of the unknown as a child.
