Remarkably, the author - a man - has managed to get inside the psychological mix of a 14-year old girl, Leah. He really seems to understand what a girl of that age is going through as she tries to make sense of life with all its challenges and concerns. These cover the whole spectrum, from worries about climate change to bullying at school, and trying to understand other young people, often with a conflicted life – all whilst pondering what life is really all about.

I think most of it applies to boys as well, and it’s the book that many of us will wish we had been able to read when we were in our teens.

The author conveys his simple yet profound insights through some delightfully crafted and choreographed characters, who share their own life experiences with Leah, and enable her to share her experiences and emerging insights with them.

There is much in this book that would form an immensely valuable part of the school curriculum.
