I mean the blurb on the book page is all ready gripping enough for me to be interested in the book!

The cover is a bit plain but the colour contrast gives it a eye-catching factor.

On to the first impression and this reads like it will be a brilliant thriller.

It was weird, spooky and had just enough of a hint at violence and gruesomeness to really draw me in.

On one side you have Jesse and his daughter, who has nightmares of drowning and his mum possibly trying to kill him, but not a full memory.

Clearly something is going to happen to his daughter at some point, but the author has written some great suspense filled false starts in the opening pages that really sets the tone for the kind of story and novel they have written.

You don't get beyond this sinister and bizarre introduction to the family other than a scene change to an old man being delivered a severed hand and an ominous demand to give up Jesse's location.

I don't know where this is going or what the story will bring but this first impression certainly has grabbed my attention and if the writing style remains consistent I have hopes this could be a truly great novel.
