Not for Me...
I had high hopes for this book, the blurb promised a fast-paced thriller with a doctor searching for his daughter as his past caught up with him.
However....after a few chapters I became seriously irritated with Jesse the main character. His actions after finding his ex-wife murdered and his daughter missing did not ring true to me. The flashbacks of his past in a children's home (although intrinsic to the plot) seemed to interrupt the narrative. His daughter Isa was the only believable character and she was incredibly mature for an eight year old!
I am ashamed to admit it (and this is something I rarely do), I then skipped to the last few chapters to find out the ending. Although I won't spoil it here, what a complicated ending it was, explained over several chapters.
I am not sure if something was lost in translation or this author's work is just not my cup of tea - but sadly I didn't enjoy this one.
