IF there can be a literary fusion of the concept of confusion and complexity then this latest offering by Cologne-based author Marc Raabe has this woeful melange " in extremis".
Rarely have I struggled through a work, so desperate to turn the final page as I have in Home Sick.

It can only be that the full appreciation of the writing and structure was " lost in translation",
and the switching in time zones and transferal of character detracted from the narrative flow’
Fraught with complex filial structures that had this reader constantly returning to previous chapters to refresh or confirm perceptions, the book had the feel of something seeking somehow to unravel a convoluted knot.
The complexity of the plot line is heightened when central character Jesse meets twin brothrer--cum doppelganger also named Jesse or was he ...
Ergo confusion.
Early in my reading of this book I weakened in my resolve and ordered the on--line edition of Raabe's much vaunted Cut.
I shall read it in the hope that it offers a more satisfying literary experience.
