Interesting and unusual premise

This was a well-written book covering a basic premise that isn't often tackled. It begins in a way where it's clearly addressed at people outside of the main character's culture/community, however, and that sort of thing loses my attention fairly quickly. So I probably won't actually read the whole book as the starting point assumes stereotypes and such in an immediate 'Western gaze' format that is grating. Otherwise it promises to be an interesting premise for those who aren't quite as sensitive to that narrative tone.
