Amir’s voice in these opening chapters is so refreshing and wholesome as he declares to us - with candour and wit, whilst also facing prejudice - that he is gay.
And so, we head to a flashback - a perfectly used anti-narrative as we hear his coming of age story: that of meeting cute boy Jackson, first love and his journey to self-discovery!
