The first thing I enjoyed about this book was the writing style. From the first chapter we are placed in an Interrogation Room, and the main character is addressing the readers directly to explain his story. I liked how it was written in such an informal manner, as it made the character seem more realistic and placed the plot firmly in the modern day.

I also enjoyed how the book then moved to ten months previously, as it gave me a better understanding of why the characters made the decisions they did. The author also made some really interesting literary choices and comparisons which painted a really clear picture of them in my head.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I thought that the plot line was original and I rooted for the main character from the very beginning. I also liked how the author addressed smaller issues such as fitting in at school as well as larger issues such as social prejudice into a single book.
