I was really looking forward to reading this book and thankfully was not disappointed. Amir was a really likeable character, and his development throughout was a good. The book explored some complex themes, homophobia and islamophobia and I thought these were dealt with well within the story. Considering these topics the book was an easy and light read and I finished this within a couple of days, which is always a sign of a good book for me. I really liked the format in which this had been written with the flashbacks between Rome, before he left the USA and during the interrogation as well as the change in narrator. You can also tell this story is personal to the author, it's full of lovely heart warming moments and also gut wrenching scenes. After this book I would definitely pick up another by the author.
