This is a really heart warming and fun book, and actually just a little bit emotional (in a good way) at the end. Amir is a really authentic character who starts to confront his life and find the real him in Rome. He didn’t intend to end up in Rome but he had to run away...

Amir is 18, and gay but his family doesn’t know. He is worried about coming out to his Muslim family, and then someone tries to blackmail him, so rather than be upfront with his family he runs away and somehow finds himself in Rome. In Rome, it doesn’t take long for him to make new friends, and see what his life could be like, and to start to feel comfortable and happy with who he is and his new family.

The story is told through Amir’s voice as he tells his story in an airport interrogation room but also through his family as they all end up being interrogated and you hear and get to understand their side of the story.
