This book was great - so great, in fact, that, that I read it all in one day, which I don’t very often do.

Amir is a great character, and I really love how he gained so much confidence with who he is and learned to love himself at the end of the book. There’s some great character development, and all the friends he makes in Rome are so encouraging and do so much to bring this development about. This book also tackles a lot of difficult topics - islamaphobia, religion and homophobia, and does these in realistic and thought-provoking ways.

It is a bit of a slow book - there’s not much action, and not a lot really happens per say - but it doesn’t need to be full of action. Instead this author brings Rome to life in the pages, and creates a beautiful meaningful story that I think will definitely help others who may also be in Amirs position. It was a lovely read.
