I'd been meaning to read this excerpt for a while, and the amount of potential makes me excited to find this novel in a bookstore, and immediately grab it. The main character is funny, witty, and his struggle is painted in a good picture from the getgo. There are many things at stake, and the readers know it.
However, the excerpt didn't show a lot, it just told. I have hopes that the rest of the book will be more showing-not-telling, since all the barebones of the book are laid out. The writing style is fast, snappy, and shows a lot about Amir's personality, and as someone that's thought about running away many times due to family, while not to the same extremes, I can relate to Amir, and I can confirm he will be relatable to many readers.
