This book was a very easy read but I was quite disappointed to be honest. I understand how difficult due to culture etc it was for him to come out as gay. It seemed he clearly had in his head how his family would react so ran away instead of sitting down and discussing it,in which he would have seen that the thoughts he had weren’t actually how his family felt.I felt quite sad for the family, frantically searching for him, trying to understand why he ran away and even when they said they loved him it was like he didn’t want to listen. It all seemed very over dramatic. Like he was trying to validate his reasons for doing what he did when in fact all he should of done was sat down and spoke to them. Of course I understand it must be difficult. The worry and anxiety of how family will react etc and coming from the background he has. But he clearly didn’t need to worry as his family love him very much and wouldn’t want to lose him. And with all that happened on the plane which is what the book leads up to, again he had every opportunity to talk to them before they boarded the plane so that again seemed over dramatic the way he behaved. To sum up it felt that really he had this misconception that he won’t be accepted by his family for being who he is so ran away from it all and in the mean time lied to his new friends and caused other troubles trying to validate his reasons for doing what he did.
