Wow. This book discusses queerness and religion in a way that is so entertaining yet provides the necessary detail to comprehend the complexity and difficulty of living with the combination of the two. As a queer person who grew up within a religious environment myself, I related to a lot of the main character's struggles.

The writing style was lovely - every word seemed to flow into each other. It is fascinating how, despite discussing such difficult topics, this novel managed to stay entertaining throughout.

I believe 'How It All Blew Up' is a very important read to anyone who wants to comprehend the experiences of queer religious people better - and be entertained while doing so. The depictions of these difficult experiences were portrayed in an easy to understand way, making this novel perfect for younger YA audiences, who may not have encountered discussions surrounding issues such as religion and queerness before. 5/5!
