I really enjoyed How It All Blew Up - finished it in one day! This book was a really easy read for me, with short witty and funny chapters, told from the point of view of Amir, a young, gay Muslim man. It was hilarious to follow Amir's journey through Rome, whilst heartbreaking at the same time; Arvin Ahmadi made all the characters (the friends Amir makes in Rome) really likeable in the story, and it was great to read how they helped Amir face his troubles. The inclusion of the interrogation statements from Amir's family members helped to see from their point of view, and it was a clever way to make the reader more aware of how difficult this situation is for his culture. I would have to liked to find out if anymore happened with Amir and Jackson (!), but nonetheless, I think the book was really well written, and I would definitely recommend this to my friends.
