Ok, so I want to like this. I really do, I want to diversify my bookshelf and read books by people who are from different background and experiences and different struggles, I want all that but this is just so not that.
I just think it’s a overdone cliche, just the worst (even damaging?) representation of brown Religious families. For years all we have had Is this stigmatised opinion that Brown = extremist, religion = homophobia, and I just want another spin on it.
I would love to read a book about a religious family who supports their child regardless of how they feel/ look/ love ect ect. Just give me something different and I’m in!!!!!!!
I can respect if that is your experience and that is what you have been through, but even then - wouldn’t you want to put into the world how you wish it would have gone? Let’s read that!
