How it all Blew Up is a rather quirky read which I enjoyed. The cover illustration and colour scheme is really vibrant and made it stand out when doing my first look. The storyline and young adult target audience wasn't necessarily something that I would ordinarily have selected to read but having received a copy I thought I would give it a chance. I found the story to be well told with lots of amusing passages and some larger than life but interesting characters. There was a fair amount of suspension of disbelief required but that allowed Arvin Ahmadi a good amount of creative licence to write an entertaining story. Having other family members sharing their thoughts alongside Amir was really good as it provided a better and more rounded picture of what his family life was like before he disappeared.
