This book was very easy to read and I got easily sucked into the story and I think that's mainly because of how it was written. It's the kind of writing style that I really vibe with.
Amir is a likeable character even though he sometimes does some questionable things.
Amir is convinced his family has found out that he is gay so he runs away to Rome on a whim. He doesn't know why he went there and what he is going to find but he ends up finding his people. As in a another group of older gay men who seem to understand what he is going through and he instantly feels at home. He starts a brief romance there as well that makes him feel at home but eventually he has to face reality and face his family.
What I found a bit unrealistic was that Amir seemed to be able to just rent an apartment there even though he doesn't have the right visa to be able to stay there. The same goes for a mobile phone number in Italy. As someone who has moved to several countries, I know these things are anything but easy if you've just arrived somewhere.
But all in all, I really enjoyed the story and went through it fast.
