This promises to be an interesting read.
I will be putting Joan Silber on my list of authors to look out for.
This book was published in the USA in 2017 and has already received great reviews there.
I didn't find the cover very exciting or attractive but now I've read the First Impression, I understand how it is relevant to the story - a Turkish carpet!
Reyna is a white, tattooed, single mum living in an apartment, which isn't legally hers, in New York. She has a black boyfriend, Boyd, who has just been released from prison after serving a sentence for dealing drugs and is about to get involved in smuggling cigarettes across state lines. Reyna's aunt, Kiki, is a free spirt who has returned to New York after the breakdown of her marriage to a Turkish carpet manufacturer turned farmer.
I'm looking forward to seeing how this story develops.
