This is quite a short but such a beautiful book. The writing is superb and the author (who I’ve never read before) is highly acclaimed.

The main stories are about Aunt Kiki and her life in Turkey and then her return to New York City, and her niece, Reyna, and Reyna’s young son, Oliver, and Reyna’s relationship with Boyd. The other chapters are taken up with stories of characters we come across in Aunt Kiki and Reyna’s stories, very much the butterfly effect and what happens in the lives of others who appear to be bit players but whose stories are also interesting.

I really would recommend this book highly. It’s ond I wouldn’t have bought just by looking at the cover which is a picture of a rug but when you read it the rug is of relevance.

A little gem.
