We don't seem to have really heard of Joan Silber over here in the UK so I was surprised when I did a little bit of research into her work and learned that she's very popular over in the US. This novel has also won several awards and is a national bestseller. And it's easy to see why. Improvement is a beautiful novel that connects and follows the characters lives, and the twists and turns that come with those. There are so many layers to this book that it is so easy to get invested in the characters and the story. It is exactly as the cover would suggest, like Joan Silber is weaving a tapestry with her storytelling. This book is well worth reading and was very enjoyable, definitely recommend.
