Improvement by Joan Silber caught my eye because it sounded like a stark and interesting book about a character that felt relatable and very real. I wanted to love it, I may have overhyped it for myself, and I definitely put it on a pedestal before I’d even read it. But sadly, at partway through the book I found I couldn’t connect to the story liked I’d hoped, the character Rayna, wasn’t as relatable as I’d thought from the sampler and synopsis... and the story wasn’t one to grab me.
I had to stop reading just short of halfway through. My rating is based on what parts I did read before DNFing.
