After the reading the first impressions of this book I wasn’t sure if I wanted to read on. However as the story developed i ended up quite enjoying it. It was a short read and not very much actually happens.
The story starts off with Rayna’s circumstances of visiting a boyfriend in prison. As events unfold, we are told about the impact of these events on a range of people. These descriptions of how the events impact the individual are beautifully real. In the short space the novel devotes to these characters, the writer evokes emotions of empathy very well. It’s not my usual genre though it liked how the individual stories were connected - it really is a small world! I found Rayna a little annoying and needy. She can across as a woman who is too dependent on men and care too much about what people think. Perhaps she could take a lead out of her aunts book.
