I'm a fan of historical fiction, and it's a different premise for a war time novel, appearing to focus on the efforts of the W.I on the homefront and therefore showing a micro glimpse of the immense efforts by everyone in Britain to do their bit to halt the Nazi's.

Which could be great if the majority of the first impression wasn't just a village W.I meeting with a whole load of,what sounds to me to be, cliched characters nattering on

It then moves on to focus on a different character and the problems she is having with her injured husband, and I felt I was just getting a lot of names and snippets with no real depth.

I like historical fiction and have no doubt that there will be people who like this but it's not my cup of tea
