I loved this book.
I didn't think that I would - a book about village life centred around the WI during the Second World war and written by a male author. Additionally, it is the sequel to 2 television series which I hadn't watched.
None of that mattered as the book is so well written and the characters beautifully betrayed. Who would have thought that so much would happen in such a small community?
The various personalities and activities of the WI reminded me of the group which my grandmother belonged to for 50 years in a small village in Cambridgeshire.
This book will be enjoyed by everyone especially those who are or know members of the WI.
Simon Block has promised at least 2 more books in this series - I can't wait for the next one.
