Having been an avid fan of Home Fires when it was aired, I was so disappointed when the series was scrapped - especially at such a crucial cliffhanger. This book however picks up where the series left off-thankfully ! You can now discover just what became of Great Paxfords residents and how their lives unfold. Truly heart wrenching at times but the story draws you in wanted to know everything about everybody. There are some great little insights into how the characters developed and as the story continues it really is a page turner. You become so involved and concerned about the people in the village that you dread the book finishing. Such emotional writing from Simon Block makes you feel like you are really there amongst the villagers. Can't praise this book enough-best book I have read by far.
