This book took me by surprise, it’s not one I usually read but I was hooked. The way it was written not in a first person but in way that you could imagine each character and understand them helped with reading. It wasn’t about one specific person but about a community of women during WWII, their style of life what they face and their thoughts.
Pat, Frances, Teresa, Erica, Alison and all the other characters helped make it feel like it was true story. It isn’t often i come across a book that isn’t true but you could imagine it being true, and this book was certainly one that brought it home how hard women have had it during that period.
From having their men go to war, to being 2nd class citizens in the eyes of some men but also being a strength in a community. There was so much emotion in this book it was a rollercoaster, at times I found myself talking to the characters and asking them why...
it is a fantastic book and I am now going to look at more in Memory Lane.
