I'd previously seen this book on another pre-release review website as an ebook, and knowing that the publisher was Hot Key was hoping that it would be available to review on Reader's First.

I tend not to read the First Looks, but after reading some of the other First Impressions I did for this and am quite disappointed so far. I've only read the first 2 pages and the style of writing, in a very short sentences, has already irritated me. I imagine it has been written in such a way to give it a snappy pace but it just makes it appear that the author is aiming it at people who don't tend to read a lot or read books once they've been made into Hollywood blockbusters. Maybe that's the point... write a book with the main intention being to get it made into a film (he's certainly made a point of name dropping as many brands as possible).

Perhaps I 'don't get it' as I'm not the intended YA audience, but I'd like to think that 14/15/16 year readers deserve a little more credit that this.
The premise is interesting and I would like the opportunity to read the whole story and be proved wrong in my initial impressions but given that I've looked forward to this for a number of weeks the First Look does not live up to my expectations.
