I wasn’t sure about the cover of this book but as a massive fan of apocalyptic novels especially from the point of view of teens (eg Charlie Higson the Enemy series) and a keen interest in science I had pretty high hopes for this book after reading the blurb. However, it is much more a coming of age read than anything else. I didn’t learn much about the gene tweaking virus mentioned in the blurb, only it’s threat within the storyline and how the characters evolved and grew up during this time. Some characters didn’t seem fully developed either with little back ground into why they were the way they were and things were touched upon with certain characters but them never explained or mentioned again which was a tad frustrating.
