The First Impression left me with a deeply unpleasant feeling, the control that Daniel exerts over Zoe's live is absolute and very unsettling. Despite, this the writing is such that although claustrophobic and hopeless you find yourself sucked in despite your better instincts of self preservation.

Whether this level of menace can be kept up throughout the book I don't know and I am not entirely sure I want to know. It is a long time since I have read anything that has chilled my blood in such a way and for that the author has to be applauded.

Although it feels masochistic to say I want to read more and find out if Zoe can break free I do.
